A Fast Start to an Exciting Year
It’s hard to believe we’re already a quarter of the way through 2026. The hockey season has been nothing short of electric—packed with highlight-reel plays, breakout performances, and nail-biting finishes. And with the playoffs just around the corner, the intensity is only going to ramp up.
Let’s take a look back at everything that’s happened across NHL Breakaway over the past three months—and what’s still to come.
Quests, Quests, & More Quests
The NHL Breakaway community has been busy.
Since January 1, we’ve launched 31 unique quests, giving collectors more ways than ever to engage with the platform. In that time, the community has earned nearly 2,500 reward packs, unlocking highlights and building collections along the way.
Right now, there are 7 live quests, including 5 Rally Quests, so there’s still plenty of opportunity to jump in, complete challenges, and earn rewards. The Return of Balances
One of the most anticipated updates of the year officially arrived: account balances are back.
Now, when you sell collectibles on the Marketplace, your proceeds are added directly to your Sweet Balance. From there, you can:
- Purchase new packs on the Drops page
- Add to your collection via the Marketplace
- Or withdraw funds to a connected Stripe account
This update brings more flexibility and control to collectors, making it easier than ever to manage and grow your collection.
Introducing: Rinkside Rivalries
This quarter also marked the debut of a brand-new concept: Rinkside Rivalries.
For the first time, we introduced a set of highlights that were initially only accessible through quest completion. These packs celebrate some of the fiercest rivalries in hockey—capturing the intensity, history, and unforgettable moments that define the game. 207 collectors have completed the Rinkside Rivalries quest, with reward packs being delivered this week!
This new format adds a fresh twist to how highlights are distributed while encouraging deeper engagement with quests. It’s just the beginning of new ways we’re thinking about collecting and rewarding participation.
Community Moments That Bring the Game to Life
Some of the best moments happen when we experience hockey together.
During a high-stakes showdown, Travis and Andy joined the Discord to watch alongside the community. It turned into an unforgettable experience—reacting to big plays in real time, debating key moments, and celebrating the action together.
And of course, we couldn’t let the moment pass without creating something new right then and there: a “brick wall” emoji to honor Connor Hellebuyck’s unforgettable performance in net.
