Get Ready for the Debut of NHL ‘90s Icons
Take a journey into the NHL history books with Cause for a Celly: '90s, the first historical set to feature NHL icons! This set will include the debuts of Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Mark Messier, Patrick Roy, Steve Yzerman, Scott Niedermayer and more in the NHL Breakaway collection.
Cause for a Celly: ‘90s also marks the introduction of original highlight commentary from legendary sportscaster and celebrated voice of the NHL, Kenny Albert! Each highlight in the set includes commentary voiced by Kenny that captures the significance of the highlight for the League, teams and players to commemorate NHL history in a new way.
Our next drop will be on December 28th, when we’ll be releasing 333 Cause for a Celly: '90s Debut LE packs! This will be the exclusive opportunity to collect the debuts of these icons in highlights that have already claimed their rightful place in NHL history, as well as a chance at newly added impactful highlights from across the current season!
Base Expansion
Also included in Cause for a Celly: '90s packs will be the first chance at the Base 2023-24 December Expansion – adding 25 highlights to the set that will continue to grow throughout the season, including:
- Anaheim Ducks defenseman Pavel Mintyukov’s body check and assist against the Arizona Coyotes that produced the game-tying goal
- Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard’s hometown wrister against the Florida Panthers
- Vancouver Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek’s 100+ MPH goal – one of the hardest shots recorded this season
- Additional highlight-reel clappers and apples from Steven Stamkos, Kris Letang, Tyler Seguin and more!
New Set Completions!
On December 28th, set completion for Opening Ice: Elites and Cause for a Celly: ‘90s will be going live with the drop. The Heroic highlights rewards will be mint-to-completion and will be revealed February 2024!
